This world is increasingly uncomfortable.
Machine Doll gave us a good fight this week. I’m glad. Also, who’s going to explain why Machine Doll has better fights than BlazBlue?
So the Cannibal Candy fight is over. Finally. I’m sorry but I still can’t find this any more than a distraction. Nothing that happened here couldn’t have been resolved with a bit more movement towards our main plot. But still, we did get Raishin into the…the…oh christ, Walpurgisnacht? This can’t end well…
There isn’t too much to talk about. Very much the usual stuff you’d expect from an episode-long fight. They reveal one more attribute to Doll battles, and that just happens to be what scores Raishin the victory. Charlotte sits around, useless. Not what I expected from “Tyrant Rex”, i kinda expected her and Sigmund to fight to the bitter end. Not…collapse into an overly emotional girl-puddle (those women folk and their broken feelings. Her high school crush being mean is so much more effective than six people trying to kill her) and Sigmund getting taken out in one shot, even if he was suppressed.
Sure, I didn’t expect maybe the most forward-thinking series from an ecchi tag, but if you’re going to have “the Useless Love Interest”, at least make it consistent with her character.
Probably the most horrible thing we learn is that there IS no taboo against Banned Dolls.
Even though Magnus’ instructor knows HE HARVESTED LIVING GIRLS FOR HIS DOLLS.
And everyone is cool with this! Magnus is just like “Oh, I killed someone he liked? Damn, kind of a dick move, I guess we’re rivals now. Don’t blame him. I’m not going to stop.”
And this is one throw away line. We spent more time talking about tsuntsun-deredere and her gift than they did about the moral implications.
Maybe that’s the point? This is a wretched world if so.
I mean I know DOLLS have no rights. But I figured that Humans did PRIOR to being harvested for a Banned Doll.
Silly me and my expectations of a post-industrial society to….BE a post-industrial society. What nonsense.
There isn’t a lot to talk about because this week was a shonen episode, really. Lots of ‘splosions and evil being evil for evil’s sake. I am mixed on the CG, mostly because the CG itself is mixed. Sometimes its gorgeous, and other times (I’m looking at YOU! Rippling-grass-effect) it hurts. That grass effect was so terrible it’s just a war crime.
Next week is labeled with the part 1 designation, so I expect another mini-arc. I hope not. God I hope not.
Oh, and one final thought, WHERE THE HELL IS SHOKO?!?!?! She just appeared, and just as quickly disappeared. Did she REALLY only arrive to give Yaya a COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY power up?! Unnecessary from the plot side of things, of course, as we’d never established Yaya’s ‘ceiling’ except that she’s weaker than Magnus. You know. The guy even Charlotte is scared of (although based on her performance this week, maybe that isn’t so tough anymore). I want my big-titted lesbian vice magnet, thank you, very much. If she doesn’t just happen to be around next week, I’ll be mad. She came to power up Yaya….so….LITERALLY deus ex machina.
